Leadership Academy I

Leadership Academy I is designed for child care directors, assistant directors, and administrators. The Academy provides leadership skills training and focuses on becoming a more effective leader to meet the needs of staff and children in their care. Leadership Academy I offers 47 hours of training and meets the training requirements for Three-Star and above Centers. CECPD will accept applications throughout the year. Registration Fee $150.

A $750 Leadership Academy I Stipend is available for applicants who have attended all sessions and complete an initial PAS assessment. (This stipend program was effective July 1, 2018 ). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for this stipend program.  

Class topics include:

  • Communication
  • Team Building
  • Ethics
  • Leadership Practices
  • Traits/Behaviors/Characteristics
  • Advocacy
  • Mentoring
  • Coping with Change
  • Discipline
  • Program Administration Scale

All applicants meeting the following requirements will be considered:

  • You must be currently employed in a licensed child care center
  • You must hold a current Oklahoma Director's Credential
  • You must participate in OKDHS's "Reaching for the Stars"
  • Strong preference will be given to those centers who serve state subsidy children; and
  • Centers will be required to have an initial Program Administration Scale (PAS) assessment prior to the completion of the final session and a post-PAS twelve months after completing the Leadership Academy I training
