Leadership Academy I

Leadership Academy I is designed for child care directors, assistant directors, and administrators. The Academy provides leadership skills training and focuses on becoming a more effective leader to meet the needs of staff and children in their care. Leadership Academy I offers 47 hours of training and meets the training requirements for Three-Star and above Centers. CECPD will accept applications throughout the year. Registration Fee $150.

A $750 Leadership Academy I Stipend is available for applicants who have attended all sessions and complete a Pre and Post PAS assessment. (This stipend program was effective July 1, 2018 ). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for this stipend program.

Class topics include:

  • Team Building
  • Ethics
  • Leadership Practices
  • Traits/Behaviors/Characteristics
  • Advocacy
  • Mentoring
  • Coping with Change
  • Discipline
  • Program Administration Scale

All applicants meeting the following requirements will be considered:

  • You must be currently employed in a licensed child care center
  • You must hold a current Oklahoma Director's Credential
  • You must participate in OKDHS's "Reaching for the Stars"
  • Strong preference will be given to those centers who serve state subsidy children; and
  • Centers will be required to have an initial Program Administration Scale (PAS) assessment prior to the completion of the final session and a post-PAS after completing the Leadership Academy I training
