Early Learning Quick Assessment (ELQA)

The Early Literacy Quick Assessment (ELQA) is a web-based, progress monitoring assessment tool for children ages three to five.  Teachers assess children’s early literacy skills at the beginning of the school year and again at intervals throughout the school year so that they are able to 1) identify children at risk for not meeting early literacy benchmarks, and 2) differentiate instruction to prepare young children to enter kindergarten with the necessary language and literacy skills to benefit from formal school instruction. The ELQA monitors progress in the following essential early literacy skills: print concepts, vocabulary, phonological awareness, and alphabet knowledge
